Jack and the Beanstalk Self-Portrait

Medium: Acrylic Painting

This is a recent painting I did in my painting class. The assignment was to have two figures in the painting, which some how relate to one another. I chose to do a "Jack and the Beanstalk" theme. (Creating the giant as myself and Jack, a little figure in the lower right of the painting. This scene really did not happen in the story of Jack and the Beanstalk, but it reminds me of that story. The thought behind this is that I feel like there is an adult self image as well as a child like image within myself. These two are combined and make me the person I am. With this said you can plainly see that it mixes these two stages of life or parts of myself and combines them into one. I painted in a hut and some animals to even make the scene more dramatic.
